How to solve
- Treat the board as 8×8: one cat per row, column, and color region.
- A useful anchor is row 1, column 7 — place it when forced, then ban its row, column, and diagonals.
- Repeat elimination until every remaining line has only one legal square.
- Finish by verifying row 8, column 4; every row and column should hold exactly one cat with no diagonal contact.
- Answer: R1C7, R2C2, R3C8, R4C3, R5C5, R6C1, R7C6, R8C4.
