How to solve
- Treat the board as 7×7: one cat per row, column, and color region.
- A useful anchor is row 1, column 4 — place it when forced, then ban its row, column, and diagonals.
- Repeat elimination until every remaining line has only one legal square.
- Finish by verifying row 7, column 1; every row and column should hold exactly one cat with no diagonal contact.
- Answer: R1C4, R2C2, R3C5, R4C7, R5C3, R6C6, R7C1.
